Description
Gentle Vinyasa Yoga is a slower paced practice with less intense positions, and includes extended time for meditation, yogic breath work and relaxation. A gentle class usually includes more warm up movements and the yoga postures are often held for longer times. A slower and gentler practice of yoga allows a person to move at a comfortable pace, does not push them to do anything that may make them uncomfortable, and creates less strain on their muscles and joints. A gentler style of yoga calms the nervous system so that the parasympathetic nervous system can be engaged. This encourages better digestion, a decrease in stress levels, and an enhanced ability to relax and heal. Students will focus on stretching and breathing in the hopes of reaching a state of rejuvenation. Ages 16+, all levels welcome, no experience necessary.

About Lynette: Lynette first found yoga as a way to complete a PE credit in college. Lynette enjoyed it, and practiced it on her own periodically, but it wasn’t until 2016 after a spinal surgery when she found hot yoga and fell in love, not only with the practice but with herself again. Lynette’s first class was at a Bikram studio and as the class ended she was never so happy to reach savasana. Never one to run from a challenge, Lynette soon found herself going for 90 minutes almost every day, determined to “master” this 26-posture sequence. However, Lynette quickly learned that yoga was much more than simply mastery over body or how beautiful a pose looked. It was using body to get in touch with the soul and all about how a pose felt, not whether it was “Instagram-worthy.” Lynette loved getting lost on her mat and letting the world go for a while. After the Bikram studio closed, Lynette found Detox Yoga in Wentzville and has been attending for years. Lynette completed her 200 hour YTT in October, and is extremely passionate about sharing this healing lifeforce with others. Lynette’s goal as a yoga teacher is to meet each student with love, just as they are, and help them to connect more deeply with themselves and find the healing that comes through this practice. Lynette has a BA in Psychology, an MA in Professional Counseling, a PhD in Counseling Studies, and a Masters Certification in School Counseling. Lynette is a full-time school counselor and an LPC who sees clients for a variety of mental health concerns, with a special certification in alcohol and drug abuse. Lynette loves to incorporate yoga and meditation into her therapy with clients. Lynette was an army brat, but she has always called St. Louis home. Go Cards! Lynette and her husband have been together for over 25 years, and have 6 children and 2 toy poodles!
